Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
At least seven people from West Bengal were killed when the mini truck they were traveling in rammed into a stationary truck in Odisha's Jaipur district on Saturday, police said.
Jajpur Superintendent of Police Vinit Agrawal told in a report that six people died on the spot while one succumbed on the way to SCB Medical College and Hospital. "We have informed the family members of the deceased and they are on their way to Jajpur," the SP said, adding that the exact cause of the mishap was being verified.
All the deceased were from West Bengal. Firefighters reached the spot and recovered the bodies, Jajpur Collector Chakravarty Singh Rathore said in a report.
A mini truck from Kolkata to Bhubaneswar to collect poultry rammed into a stationary truck in Neulpur area on NH-16 due to fog in the early hours of Saturday, Dharmasala Police Station Inspector Rakesh Tripathi said.
The bodies were sent to Barchana Community Health Center in Jajpur district.
