On Tuesday morning, officials from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a raid in Bhawanipur, Kolkata. The raid was conducted in relation to a case of fraud through the use of the 'e-nuggets' mobile app. According to sources, the fraud involved the use of the accounts of many people in the area to conduct transactions in cryptocurrency.
It is reported that lower-class individuals who were unaware of these transactions were used as a means to carry out the fraud, which involved transactions worth crores of rupees. Last year, the ED recovered Rs. 17 crores during a raid at the home of businessman Aamir Khan in Garden Reach. His son was arrested and interrogated, revealing many shocking details. The current raid is linked to this case.
The settlement area where the raid took place is located in front of Shambhunath Pandit Hospital. The accounts of most residents in the area were allegedly used for cryptocurrency transactions. On February 20, the ED officials raided the house of a young man named Ankit Shaw, who resides in the area.
The mobile phone of another young man named Rohan was also monitored by the ED. Rohan comes from a very poor family and his account, along with that of Ankit's father who works as a peon in a private company, was reportedly used for cryptocurrency transactions. The ED is currently investigating the links between Aamir Khan's mobile gaming application e-Nuggets and these transactions.
