Guv Bose accepts resignation of vice-chancellors, grant them 3-months extension

After two days of meetings between Education Minister Bratya Basu and Governor Dr. CV Anand Bose at Raj Bhavan, the matter of appointment and extension of tenure of Vice Chancellors in various universities of West Bengal has been resolved.

In a joint press conference, Basu and Bose announced that a consensus had been reached on the formation of a search committee to consider applications for the appointment of new Vice Chancellors in six universities. The outgoing Vice Chancellors submitted their resignations to Governor Bose and were granted a three-month extension while the search committee makes its decision.

Additionally, the tenure of other Vice Chancellors, whose terms had ended, will also be expanded. Basu stated that he had come to Raj Bhavan on the instructions of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to discuss these issues with the Governor, and a solution had been reached.

Governor Bose emphasized the importance of maintaining the progress of education in Bengal and working together to achieve a self-reliant India as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also addressed recent conflicts with Raj Bhavan and stated that there is no conflict in the field of education and that everyone must work together to maintain the achievements in education and culture that Bengal is known for.
