Around 118 Jammu and Kashmir Doda terrorists are based in Pakistan and PoK, a senior police officer said on Wednesday, adding that 10 of them are the most active and are recruiting youth in their efforts to spread terrorism in the region.
The officer said that two of the terrorists were declared as "individual" terrorists while the other two were declared as "proclaimed offenders".
Doda Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abdul Qayoom said the police have also seized the property of one of the proclaimed offenders and are preparing a report against those trying to revive terrorism in the district. “There are currently 118 Dodo terrorists based in Pakistan and PoK, of which 10 are the most active. They are trying to involve the local youth in terrorism. They are again trying to spread terrorism in Doda and Jammu province,” the SSP told in a report. “We have profiled 10 such terrorists who are most active. We have declared two individual terrorists and two as declared criminals," he added.
A senior police officer said that the property of one of the terrorists has been seized. “We're gathering evidence against the rest. We are preparing a report against those who are trying to revive terrorism in Doda. We are gathering details about their characteristics and when the time comes we will take action against them,” he added. The officer went on to say that police are preparing to crack down on the "most active terrorists" in the region.
The SSP said the Union Home Ministry has declared Abuch Habib, who is one of the most active terrorists in the region, as an "individual terrorist". “He was involved in terrorist acts in Jammu province which included planning and execution of IEDs and grenade blasts. They are trying to revive terrorism in Doda district,” he added.
The officer further said that Hizbal Mujahideen terrorist Mohd Irshad is also active in the region and has been declared an "individual terrorist". “We have cracked down on 11 people under UAPA and they are in jail. The positive sign is that whoever the terrorists have reached for indoctrination, come to us and we will provide counselling,” he added.
