Tejashwi Yadav to face CBI on March 25 in Land-for-jobs case

• CBI assured the Delhi HC that it wouldn't arrest Tejashwi Yadav this month, after which the politician agreed to appear before the central probe agency on March 25
• Tejashwi said in his plea that he had requested the investigating officer through several letters to grant him some time
• Case relates to railway appointments in exchange for land gifted or sold to the family of Lalu Yadav 

The CBI on Thursday assured the Delhi High Court that it would not arrest Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav this month, after which the politician agreed to appear before the central probe agency on March 25 for questioning in connection with the land works case.

Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma recorded the CBI counsel's statement that the agency was not considering arresting Tejashwi Yadav this month. After the assurance, senior advocate Maninder Singh, representing Tejashwi Yadav, submitted to the court that his client will appear before the investigating officer at the CBI headquarters in Delhi at 10:30 am on March 25.

The High Court took cognizance of the submissions of both the parties and disposed of the petition in which Tejashwi Yadav sought quashing of the summons issued to him by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

RJD supremo and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tejashwi said in his plea that he had requested the investigating officer through several letters to grant him some time as the current Bihar Assembly session ends on April 5.

He said that he has requested to either appear at the CBI office in Patna or if any information or documents are required from him, he will provide them through his authorized representative in Delhi.

The case relates to alleged railway appointments in exchange for land gifted or sold to the family of Lalu Prasad Yadav when he was railway minister from 2004 to 2009. In its charge sheet, the CBI alleged that there were irregular appointments in the railways, which violated Indian Railways recruitment norms and procedures.
