A member of a motorcycle theft gang, identified by his first name Ankur, surrendered at the Mansoorpur police station in Muzaffarnagar on Wednesday fearing for his life, allegedly due to the increasing number of police encounters in UP.
Ankur, a resident of Goyla village in the district, surrendered to the police and carried a banner saying, “Sorry CM Yogi, I did a mistake."
Speaking about the matter, SHO Rojant Tyagi said, “The accused reached the police station on Wednesday morning with the village headman and his family members who were afraid of the encounter. He also asked for forgiveness and pledged never to commit another crime.”
