    Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning will occur at several places over the state today, said the weather forecast issued by the IMD Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

    Several places in Kolhan and central parts of Jharkhand woke up to rain this morning. It was cloudy in many places.

    The Ranchi Met Center has also issued a hailstorm warning in isolated parts of the state, especially in the eastern region, today. A trough from sub-Himalayan West Bengal to south Odisha today was from a cyclonic circulation over Bangladesh to north coastal Andhra Pradesh over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha at 0.9 km above mean sea level.

    Meteorologists have predicted a gradual drop in the maximum temperature of 3-4°C over the next three days, then no major change in the next two days. Tomorrow, many parts of the state will see light to moderate rain or thunderstorms likely on Saturday, while Sunday and Monday will see light to moderate rain or thunderstorms in a few places over the state.

    Light showers or thunderstorms are also likely at isolated places over the state on Tuesday. The weather is expected to improve from the middle of the week. The Met Office has forecast mainly clear skies and dry weather in the state since Wednesday.

    During the past 24 hours, dry weather prevailed over the state. The highest maximum temperature of 37.2°C was recorded in Jamshedpur while the lowest minimum temperature of 14.6°C was recorded in Simdega.
