The Central Bureau of Investigation has announced a reward of ₹5 lahks for information about a seven-year-old girl who went missing from Bihar's Muzaffarpur on 16 February 2021.

The CBI registered the kidnapping case on 22 December 2022 on the directions of the Patna High Court at the request of the young girl's father, who complained that the state police were not investigating his daughter's disappearance.

Khushi Kumari was five years old when she disappeared from the Saraswati puja pandal built near her house where she was playing. The High Court appeared to agree with the father in the end.

In its order, the high court noted that the case diary presented to the bench contained entries only up to April 8, 2021, "indicative of the fact that the investigating officer was in fact sleeping on the matter for more than one year" before the hearing of this case which was held for the first time on May 5, 2022, and the unfortunate father, as the petitioner himself claims, was constantly running from pillar to post to conduct a speedy investigation, the instructions of the supervisory authority were not carried out properly and in time”.
