Anushka Sharma, a Bollywood actor-producer, and Virat Kohli, a former cricket captain of India, recently announced that they have joined forces to merge their separate foundations and establish a new program called SeVVA.

The couple explained in a statement that the organization doesn't concentrate on any one subject and instead wants to help others, " In the words of Kahlil Gibran ‘For in truth it is life that gives unto life- while you, who deem yourself a giver, are but a witness’. With this sentiment in mind, we have decided to work together through SeVVA aiming to reach out to as many people as possible. SeVVA’s work won’t be confined to a particular issue as it will continue to strive for social good by championing humanity which is the need of the hour today.” Sharma also posted a video of the couple's good deeds to her social media accounts along with the news.

SeVVA even incorporates the name of their daughter Vamika, whose charities were previously known as the Anushka Sharma Foundation and the Virat Kohli Foundation, respectively. Anushka tweeted the same about it, saying, So, with our heads bowed in gratitude we are offering SeVVA – our joint non-profit which stands for Se (of Self), V (of Virat), V (of Vamika) A (of Anushka). As Seva is always from self of self.”

The 34-year-old actress further explained the goal of the new endeavor in a subsequent tweet by stating that everything the family accomplishes going forward will be as a unit. She wrote, “We will contribute in whatever way we can. We will do it as one. As a family. For the family that we belong to. The world that we live in. The society that has provided for us and loved us. The universe with which we are all connected.”

While Sharma will continue her work in animal welfare, taking on various activities under their newly renamed organization, Kohli will continue to fund athletes and offer sports scholarships. The duo was recently spotted visiting the 2023 Indian Sports Honours while posing for photos while wearing their best attire.
