Authorities in Kanpur on Thursday seized two properties belonging to the owner of Baba Biryani food outlets under the Enemy Property Act, 1968.

The district administration first completed the process of impounding the commercial complex and put a notice on the residential building of Mukhtar Baba 'Darul-Maula', which is spread over an area of ​​nearly 400 square meters and is worth over Rs 5 crore.

District Magistrate Vishal G Ayyar said that according to the report, there was heavy police and provincial armed police (PAC) deployment at both places during the confiscation proceedings.

Residents of the residential building were asked to pay their rent to the government. The commercial building houses Baba Biryani, Baba Sweet and Baba Lassi outlets, he said.

Mukhtar Baba was arrested last year for financing the June 3 violence in Kanpur. He was released on bail in mid-December after 175 days.
