“Before 2017, the law and order in the state was not good, but after that, there is a rule of law in the state. From 2017 to 2023, there have been no riots in Uttar Pradesh; there was no need for a curfew,” Yogi Aditynath said while speaking at a function.

However, the recent encounter killing of Atiq Ahmad's son Asad in Jhansi has raised concerns about police action in the state. At the same time, a sealed letter written by Atiq Ahmad has reportedly been sent to the Chief Justice of India and the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, though its contents are unknown.
