‘You are too popular…I should take your autograph’: US President Joe Biden in awe of PM Modi

US President Joe Biden on Sunday told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he is a very popular leader. While meeting PM Modi in Hiroshima, Japan, Biden said he was getting so many requests from people wanting to attend PM Modi's event scheduled for next month in the US that he was running out of tickets.

Joe Biden met Prime Minister Modi during the Quad meeting held on the sidelines of the G7 meeting in Hiroshima itself. When the US President approached the Prime Minister, he said that many prominent citizens wanted a ticket to the event.

Sources said President Biden told Prime Minister Modi, "You are showing that democracy matters."

According to sources, the president said: “You are giving me a real problem. We have a dinner for you next month in Washington. Everyone in the whole country wants to come. I ran out of tickets. Do you think I'm kidding? Ask my team. I get calls from people I've never heard of before. Everyone from movie actors to relatives. You're too popular."

He also appreciated the role of Prime Minister Modi and India in the Quad. He said that PM Modi has largely influenced what the other members of the Quad are doing.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was present with Biden and also agreed with the US President. The Australian leader recalled that 90,000 people attended the Prime Minister's event at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Joe Biden replied: "I should get your autograph."

Prime Minister Modi is going on an official visit to the United States starting on June 22. He will be welcomed by President Biden and the First Lady, who will host a state dinner for him at the White House.
