Apoorva Mukhija returns to Instagram, shares rape threats and online abuse post controversy

Social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, widely known as The Rebel Kid, has made a powerful return to Instagram weeks after the storm of criticism she faced due to the India’s Got Latent controversy. In a series of emotionally charged posts on Tuesday, she exposed the scale of online abuse she endured, including rape threats, acid attack threats, and vulgar trolling, many of which she documented through screenshots.

Her comeback post began with a trigger warning and showcased the dark side of digital platforms. “And that’s not even 1%,” she captioned one of the posts displaying hundreds of hate messages and threats she received. In another post, she shared a quote: “Don’t take away the story from the storyteller,” a subtle but powerful reminder of her identity as a creator and a voice.

Apoorva’s return was met with overwhelming support from fans and followers. Many commenters praised her bravery, calling her “a strong girl” and urging her to keep speaking her truth. One fan wrote, “They wanted you quiet. It’s time that you give them a big Roar!” The sentiment echoed across hundreds of responses standing in solidarity with the influencer.

The controversy dates back to February 2025, when Apoorva appeared on a YouTube show India’s Got Latent, hosted by comedian Samay Raina. The episode also featured Ranveer Allahbadia, who made objectionable comments about parents and sex. Apoorva was accused of making a remark that was also deemed inappropriate, leading to massive outrage online.

Following the backlash, she deleted all posts on her Instagram and unfollowed everyone. She later appeared before the Mumbai police after complaints were filed against her, Ranveer, and Samay. The National Commission for Women had also taken serious note of the vulgar remarks and issued summons to those involved.

With three million followers, Apoorva’s influence is undeniable. Her return post, however, goes beyond content—it becomes a statement against digital hate. Her message is clear: she’s not just a creator, but also a survivor of online violence, and she’s done staying silent.
