The doors of the Kedarnath temple were opened to devotees on Friday morning at 7 AM during the auspicious Vrish Lagna, marking the formal commencement of the Chardham Yatra 2025. The sacred event saw the presence of over 15,000 pilgrims who had gathered in the Himalayan valley for darshan of Lord Kedarnath after the winter closure.
The temple premises were decorated with 108 quintals of flowers and garlands for the occasion. As the doors opened, the chants of “Har Har Mahadev” echoed through the Kedarnath valley. The first puja of the season was conducted in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as per temple officials.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was present at Kedarnath during the ceremonial opening of the temple doors. He reached the shrine shortly before the opening and had darshan after the rituals concluded. Senior officials from the administration, police, and security forces were deployed to manage the event and oversee crowd safety.
The Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee confirmed that a token system for darshan has been implemented from the day of the opening. This system is aimed at regulating the flow of devotees and preventing overcrowding at the temple. Overnight accommodation arrangements were made for more than 15,000 pilgrims in and around Kedarnath.
Shri Kedarnath Dham has been fully prepared and adorned for the pilgrimage season. “It is an extremely fortunate moment for me to be present at Kedarnath Dham during the opening of the temple doors,” said Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The temple remains one of the most revered Jyotirlingas and a key destination in the Chardham circuit.
