Multiple trucks were vandalised late at night in South Kolkata’s New Alipore adjoining area without prior notice or official communication. The vehicles were reportedly parked in the same location for years, and the sudden action has left owners and drivers seeking answers from authorities. The reason behind the move has not yet been clarified by police.
Truck owners alleged that the vehicles were damaged because they refused to pay money. They stated that they have been parking in the area for the last 40 years without any objections. “If there was any issue, the police could have informed us earlier. We would have removed the trucks ourselves,” said a truck owner, questioning the need for such action without warning.
Following the incident, the owners went to New Alipore Police Station and lodged their protest. Police reportedly assured them that such an incident would not recur. However, there has been no official explanation so far regarding the motive or legality of the truck demolition. The event has triggered concern in local transport circles.
