Cargo truck hits Akasa Air plane at Mumbai airport

An Akasa Air aircraft was hit by a cargo truck at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Monday. The collision, which occurred while the plane was parked, prompted the airline to launch a thorough inspection and an investigation into the incident. The cargo truck was being operated by a third-party ground handler at the time of the accident.

According to a spokesperson for Akasa Air, the truck came into contact with the parked aircraft, causing a tear in one of the plane's wings, which was visibly inserted into the vehicle in a photo from the scene. The extent of the damage is still being assessed, and the airline is collaborating with the ground handler to determine the circumstances of the collision.

The incident highlights the critical need for strict operational protocols on the tarmac to ensure the safety of ground support equipment and aircraft. While no passengers were on board, the collision could potentially delay scheduled flights as the aircraft will remain grounded until a full inspection is completed and any necessary repairs are made.
