Three Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from the Kutubpur Ghat area in Murshidabad’s Raghunathganj for allegedly entering India illegally with the intention of smuggling cattle. Police personnel patrolling the border noticed them moving suspiciously and stopped them for questioning. The incident took place in a region close to the India-Bangladesh border.
During preliminary questioning, the three individuals gave conflicting statements. On further interrogation, they admitted to crossing the international border illegally from Bangladesh to smuggle cattle. They were immediately taken into custody by the local police.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammad Misbahul Haq (55), Mohammad Jahangir Sheikh (40), and Mohammad Saiful Islam (35). Police are investigating if the accused are part of a wider smuggling network and whether any Indian nationals are involved. The case is currently being handled by the Raghunathganj police station.
