Ahead of the Trinamool Congress's Shahid Rally on July 21 in Kolkata’s Dharmatala, a river-based campaign was conducted in Howrah's Bally area on Friday. The campaign began from Belur Math Jetty Ghat and was led by Bally MLA Dr. Rana Chattopadhyay. Two boats decorated with party flags, rally posters, and banners with slogans dedicated to martyrs moved along the river route from Belur Math to Bally Bridge.
Residents on both sides of the Ganga gathered along the banks, waving and cheering as the boats passed. The campaign aimed to connect with people living near the riverbanks and inform them about the upcoming rally. Party workers on the boats distributed pamphlets and raised slogans related to the July 21 event during the campaign.
MLA Dr. Rana Chattopadhyay, who led the initiative, said, “21 July is not just about faith, it is our mark of respect for the martyrs.” The rally is scheduled to take place at Dharmatala and is one of the major annual events organised by the party to commemorate the deaths of 13 Youth Congress workers in 1993.
