Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
To address persistent infrastructure issues, the Shalimar GRP police station has officially moved into a new building. The shift was necessitated by severe waterlogging problems inside the old police station and the ongoing construction of a new overbridge near its location, which made daily operations difficult.
The newly constructed police station and barracks, situated a short distance from the previous building, were inaugurated on Thursday. The formal opening was conducted by GRP Director General Debashish Roy in the presence of Joint Commissioner of Howrah City Police K. Shabari Rajkumar, Superintendent in-charge of Kharagpur GRP District Devshree Sanyal, and several other senior officers.
Officials highlighted that the new infrastructure would significantly improve working conditions and efficiency. The upgraded premises include modern facilities, better drainage, and accommodation arrangements for staff.
The move marks an important step toward improving service delivery and public interface in the region.
