A 28-year-old man, Nahrul Haque, was found dead with his throat slit in a bamboo grove at Dakshinpara in Gorakhpur, under Chanchal-2 block, on Wednesday morning. His residence is located around 500 metres from the spot. The police from Chanchal police station reached the location, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem. Preliminary observations revealed multiple injury marks on various parts of the body, suggesting a violent death.
According to family members, Nahrul was a resident of Bhakri Gram Panchayat and was set to marry a woman from Makdampur in Chanchal-1 block on July 25. However, he went missing before the scheduled wedding. His mobile phone was found at his home. Upon checking the call records, his family found repeated contact with a neighbouring woman, leading them to suspect her involvement in the case.
The victim’s family filed a written complaint at the police station, naming the neighbour and alleging that their son was killed due to a suspected relationship. Chanchal SDPO Somnath Saha stated that a formal complaint had been received from the family and that an investigation was in progress based on the submitted details.
