PM will offer Anjali to Maa Durga this Ashtami in Kolkata, receives multiple invitations
Eastern Railway has decided to increase suburban train services under the Sealdah Division in response to the growing passenger load. The decision was taken in a recent meeting chaired by Sealdah DRM Rajiv Saxena, where divisional officials assessed crowd patterns across the network. Officials stated that over the past few months, the number of daily commuters on Sealdah routes has increased significantly, leading to congestion at various stations and inside trains.
To manage the crowd, services will be increased on multiple key routes. Additional trains are being introduced on the Bidhannagar, Dum Dum Cantonment, Bangaon, and Canning branches. Railway officials confirmed that the Diamond Harbour and Barasat lines will also see an increase in train frequency. These enhancements are being planned to provide relief to passengers during peak hours and to accommodate the daily footfall that continues to grow.
A senior official present at the meeting stated that crowd management has become a priority due to the consistent rise in demand. The plan includes adjusting existing schedules and increasing the number of train operations from multiple suburban stations within the Sealdah Division. The implementation will be monitored closely, and adjustments will be made as needed to match passenger volume.
