BJP gherao 'New TMC' MLA Sandipan Saha's house in Entally, protest over 'cut money'
Tension erupted in the Hatishala area of Bhangar-2 block after an Indian Secular Front (ISF) worker was allegedly attacked by a group of men linked to the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC). The victim, Babusona Molla, was reportedly heading to the market when he was stopped and beaten by unidentified individuals who also took his motorcycle. The incident occurred in broad daylight, prompting concern among residents.
Family members of Babusona Molla alleged that when some women from the household went to retrieve the seized bike, they too were physically assaulted. The attackers have been accused of manhandling the women during the confrontation. The victims were later taken to the Jirengacha Primary Health Centre for treatment. The incident has led to unrest in the area, with locals expressing fear over rising political hostility.
The family has named local TMC panchayat member Monirul Sapui and his supporters as those responsible for the assault. However, TMC leader Khairul Islam denied the allegations and disassociated the party from the incident. No arrests have been reported yet, but police presence has been increased in the Hatishala region to prevent further escalation.
