Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which the latter briefed him on his recent meeting with former US President Donald Trump in Alaska.
Modi, in a post on X, thanked Putin for sharing details of the talks and described the exchange as a continuation of the close dialogue between India and Russia. He reiterated India’s long-standing position that the Ukraine conflict must be resolved through peaceful means and dialogue.
“Thank my friend, President Putin, for his phone call and for sharing insights on his recent meeting with President Trump in Alaska. India has consistently called for a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict and supports all efforts in this regard. I look forward to our continued exchanges in the days to come,” Modi wrote.
India has repeatedly underscored that it will support any initiative aimed at fostering peace and stability in Ukraine, even as it maintains active communication with all major stakeholders in the conflict.
