A sudden fire broke out in a house at Belsanda in Sagardighi on Tuesday night after a gas cylinder exploded, injuring around 10 people. Eyewitnesses said flames erupted suddenly, and the cylinder burst soon after, causing the blaze to spread rapidly through the house.
Local residents rescued those trapped inside and rushed them to Sagardighi Super Specialty Hospital. Doctors confirmed that all the injured are undergoing treatment for burn injuries. The fire department was informed immediately, and one fire engine was deployed to the spot, which managed to bring the flames under control.
Sagardighi BDO Sanjay Sikdar and OC Abhijit Sarkar reached the location to assess the situation following the incident. Officials said the blaze was contained, and relief operations were carried out to assist the affected family.
