A gruesome incident took place in Baingkandi village under Maynaguri block of Jalpaiguri district, where a man allegedly murdered his wife and carried her dismembered body parts in a bag across the village. The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Dipali Roy, and the accused has been named as her husband, Ramesh Roy. Eyewitnesses stated that on Friday morning, villagers saw Ramesh moving around with a suspicious bag and showing its contents to several people, which left residents shocked and alarmed.
Following the incident, some locals went to the accused’s house and discovered bloodstains on the bed inside the room. They immediately informed the village panchayat head, and soon a large crowd gathered at the site. The discovery created panic among villagers, who then alerted the local authorities. The gram panchayat head also reached the spot along with other residents, and the matter was reported to the Maynaguri police station.
Police officials from Maynaguri station arrived in the village and started an investigation into the killing. A manhunt has been launched to trace Ramesh Roy, who is absconding. Authorities have confirmed that the case is under active investigation, and further details will be available once the accused is arrested and questioned.
