In a first, Army to hold Commanders’ Conference in Kolkata; PM Modi, Rajnath, Doval to attend on Sep 15

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval, is scheduled to visit Kolkata for a significant army event. Their visit, previously a subject of much speculation, has now been officially confirmed. The trio's presence at the event, particularly in the wake of 'Operation Sindoor,' is considered highly important for national security, and their itinerary is focused exclusively on the military program, with no political engagements planned.

The main purpose of the visit is for the three top officials to attend the Combined Commanders' Conference. This special army event is set to take place at the historic Fort William in Kolkata from September 15th to 17th. The presence of the country's prime minister, defense minister, and top security official at this conference underscores its strategic importance.

According to sources from the Indian Army's Eastern Command, the trio will arrive on September 15th. Group Captain Himanshu Tiwari, Chief Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Command, confirmed their attendance. The conference will also see the participation of other key military leaders, including Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.

The visit is taking place against a backdrop of ongoing political unrest in neighboring Bangladesh and Nepal. While the article notes that stability has been recently achieved at the China border following a meeting at the SCO conference, the regional dynamics make the Eastern Command's conference even more critical.

The program includes plans for a separate, crucial meeting with the army. This meeting is expected to focus on matters concerning the security of the northeastern border. Given the geopolitical complexities and the strategic importance of the region, this discussion is of paramount importance for the country's defense planning.

The Eastern Command has made it clear that PM Modi's visit is strictly for official purposes. It has been confirmed that the Prime Minister will not be attending any political or public rallies during his time in Kolkata. The focus remains squarely on the military event and the security of the nation.
