A tragic accident in Dhupguri of Jalpaiguri district late Tuesday night left two young men dead on the spot and another critically injured. The incident took place when local youths were out collecting donations for the upcoming Durga Puja.
According to local sources, in the darkness of night, some club members attempted to stop a lorry coming at high speed from Nathua Haat towards Dhupguri. The lorry did not stop, and a bike carrying three youths behind it collided violently with the truck.
The impact of the collision was so severe that two youths lost their lives instantly, while the third was rushed to hospital in critical condition. The news of the accident triggered panic in the locality, with hundreds of residents gathering at the site.
Police from Dhupguri station, along with SDPO Kumar and a large team, reached the spot to control the situation and begin an investigation into the accident.
