Indian cricketers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Kuldeep Yadav have made major gains in the latest ICC Test rankings following their impressive performances in the second Test against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Jaiswal smashed a brilliant 175 in the first innings, propelling him two places up to fifth in the ICC Test batting rankings with 791 rating points — his highest career position yet.
Jaiswal, who was also the leading run-scorer of the series with 219 runs at an average of 73, surpassed South Africa’s Temba Bavuma and Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis. England’s Joe Root continues to top the Test batting charts with 908 rating points, followed by Harry Brook, Kane Williamson, and Steve Smith.
On the bowling front, Kuldeep Yadav leaped seven spots to secure the 14th position after his Player of the Match display in Delhi, where he claimed eight wickets. With 689 rating points, he now sits just behind Mohammed Siraj, who is ranked 12th, while Jasprit Bumrah retains the top spot globally with 882 points.
West Indies batter Shai Hope also made a remarkable jump of 34 places to reach 66th after scoring a century in Delhi, marking the end of his eight-year Test century drought. His teammate John Campbell climbed six spots to 68th in the updated rankings.
