No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and former Minister Jyotipriya Mallick faced an unexpected assault at his own residence in Salt Lake. The attack occurred suddenly when a young man allegedly lunged at the prominent politician. Although the TMC leader narrowly managed to escape physical harm, the swift action of his security personnel led to the immediate apprehension of the accused, identified as Abhishek Das.
The incident unfolded while Jyotipriya Mallick was engaged in a meeting with party workers at his Salt Lake home. The accused, Abhishek Das, allegedly launched an unprovoked attack during this time, creating intense panic among those present. Mallick's security team reacted instantly, overpowering and restraining the assailant before any serious harm could be inflicted.
Following the commotion, officials from the Bidhannagar North Police Station rushed to the scene. The police have officially detained Abhishek Das, and an investigation has been launched to determine the precise motive behind the sudden and violent attempt.
Initial reports indicate that the accused, Abhishek Das, hails from the Habra area. Adding a layer of complexity to the case, local sources suggest that Das may be mentally unstable and was reportedly undergoing treatment at a hospital prior to the incident.
