A quiet neighbourhood in Howrah Domjur’s Bankra Paschim Para area turned into a scene of horror when a woman's body was found inside a locked house with her disabled son lying helplessly beside her body. The victim’s mother had been trying to reach her daughter and son-in-law over call for hours. When no one answered, she rushed to the house, saw the door locked and further called neighbours for help. After breaking open the lock, they made the grim discovery: the woman was dead on the bed while her hand is pressing the pillow and her speechless disabled son lay curled up nearby, unable to call for help.
Howrah City Police primarily estimates that woman might have been murdered with a pillow. The woman’s husband has vanished and his mobile phone is switched off and he has not returned home since the incident. Domjur police and Bankra outpost officers immediately launched a manhunt, treating him as the prime suspect. Locals say the couple had frequent fights, but no one expected things to end this way. The disabled son, who cannot speak or move properly, is now in the care of relatives and is said to be deeply traumatised after spending hours trapped with his mother’s body.
Police have registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem to confirm the exact cause of death. Forensic teams have collected evidence from the room, including the pillow. Officers believes that the husband might have locked the house from outside after the crime and fled. As the search for the absconding man intensifies, neighbours are reeling from the shock of such a brutal act happening right in their midst.
