Man arrested for promising Bengal Police constable jobs, 20.87 lakhs cash seized from his house

A major job scam has been uncovered in Gangarampur, South Dinajpur district, just days before the West Bengal Police Constable recruitment exam scheduled for tommorow. A local man named Subhash Biswas was arrested for promising guaranteed government jobs in the police force in exchange for huge amounts of money from desperate job seekers. Police recovered more than Rs 20,87,700 in cash, several original admit cards of candidates, and other important documents from his house.

Acting on a secret tip-off, a Gangarampur police team led by SDPO & IC raided Subhash Biswas’s well-built house at Kargil More under Belbari Gram Panchayat on Thursday evening. The officers found bundles of cash hidden in the house along with admit cards and forms belonging to many candidates who had paid him to get the state police constable job. As per reports, Subhash used to collect lakhs of rupees from each person by falsely claiming he had inside links in the Bengal police department that could secure them a constable post without merit.

The accused has been produced in court where the judge granted seven days of police custody for further questioning. Police probe underway to find out if more people are part of this racket and how many candidates has been cheated. Police are also verifying all recovered documents and urge job seekers never to pay money for government jobs because recruitment is completely free and based only on merit.
