New homes must install CCTVs, orders Patna administration

Patna has introduced a significant new regulation that mandates the installation of CCTV cameras in all newly constructed buildings across the city, encompassing commercial establishments, large apartment complexes, and even private homes. Municipal officials have made it clear that adherence to this new rule is non-negotiable for new constructions.

Building map approvals will now be officially withheld by the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) unless the submitted plans explicitly include provisions for the installation of surveillance cameras. The PMC is set to enforce this crucial provision at multiple administrative stages. Compliance will be checked rigorously during the process of granting building map approvals, commercial licensing procedures, and even during holding tax assessments.

Officials have described the new mandate as absolutely essential for improving law and order in the city, especially amid rising security concerns. Furthermore, authorities have issued a direct order for the immediate installation of CCTV systems in all police stations and outposts within the city that currently lack them.
