Crisis-hit airline IndiGo has announced a significant compensatory measure, stating it will issue additional travel vouchers worth ₹10,000 to passengers who were "severely impacted" by its massive operational collapse. This meltdown resulted in thousands of flight cancellations and extensive delays across the nation over the past week, leading to chaos at major airports.
However, the airline specified a crucial condition: these travel vouchers will only be offered to customers who were traveling between December 3 and December 5, the period identified as the peak of the operational disruption. IndiGo, which has been issuing a stream of apologies for the widespread chaos, admitted in a statement that a section of its customers was "stranded for many hours" at airports.
The compensation aims to appease those who faced the worst inconvenience. IndiGo stated, "We will offer travel vouchers worth ₹10,000 to such severely impacted customers." These vouchers can be redeemed for any future IndiGo journey and will remain valid for the next 12 months, offering a form of relief and future travel flexibility to the aggrieved passengers.
