A government bus collided with a car in the Maidan area of Kolkata on Monday morning, triggering brief traffic disruption near Fort William. The accident took place around 9:15 am on Casuarina Road when the bus, carrying passengers from Amtala to Howrah, rammed into a car ahead of it.
According to preliminary accounts, the car, which was heading towards the CSC office near Victoria House, suddenly applied brakes. The car driver claimed he was forced to stop abruptly after a bike came in front of his vehicle while he was travelling from Taratala towards Victoria House.
The bus, unable to halt in time, crashed into the car from behind. No immediate reports of serious injuries were reported, though the collision caused panic among passengers and slowed traffic movement in the busy Maidan stretch for some time.
