Arup Biswas is fearing arrest! Skips' appearance in Messi case citing illness
The Lake Town police on Tuesday arrested Atish Deepankar Dutta, president of BJP’s Bidhannagar Mandal 4, in connection with alleged obscene comments made on social media and charges of harassing a Trinamool Congress woman worker.
The arrest followed heightened tensions in the Kalindi area of Lake Town, where BJP workers were preparing for a Sankalp Sabha. Allegations of party flags being torn down and workers being assaulted led to road blockades by BJP supporters, resulting in chaos and clashes with the police.
Police said the accused allegedly made obscene remarks on social media targeting Chief Minister Abhishek Banerjee and Bidhannagar MLA Sujit Basu. When Trinamool Congress women workers protested against the comments, he was arrested on charges related to obscenity, harassment and attempting to outrage the dignity of a woman.
