A man was allegedly murdered by his wife with the help of her lover in the Jamuria police station area under the Asansol–Durgapur Police Commissionerate. The incident occurred at Sripur Phandi in Pariharpur, Ward No. 3 of the Asansol Municipal Corporation. The deceased has been identified as Sanjeev Bauri.
Police said the accused, Mousumi Bauri, had a long-standing extramarital relationship with Abhiram Bauri. As Abhiram was unable to marry Mousumi, the two allegedly conspired to eliminate Sanjeev and carried out the murder when they found an opportunity.
Deputy Commissioner Dhruba Das shared details of the case at a press conference, stating that preliminary investigation links the crime to the illicit relationship. During interrogation, both accused reportedly confessed to their roles in the crime.
Police said the accused would be produced before an Asansol court and remand would be sought for further questioning. Forensic examination of the crime scene has been initiated, while Abhiram Bauri has denied the allegations, claiming he has been falsely implicated.
