State reopens enrollment window for Madhyamik students hit by school lapses

In a major relief for Madhyamik examinees, the online enrollment portal will be reopened from 12 noon on January 27 to 12 noon on January 28, 2026, allowing eligible students to complete pending formalities and appear for the examination.

The decision has been taken to safeguard the interests of students who were unable to receive enrollment confirmation or admit cards for the 2026 Madhyamik Examination due to lapses at the school level. The School Education Department and the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education have jointly taken steps to ensure that no eligible examinee is deprived of the opportunity to sit for the exams.

School Education Minister Bratya Basu said the move was taken under the directions of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, reaffirming that student welfare remains the state’s highest priority. He added that administrative measures will also be put in place to prevent such lapses by schools in the future and urged students to appear for the examinations with confidence and calm.
