State Power Minister and Tollygunge MLA Aroop Biswas on Monday visited the Anandapur fire site, where three workers have died and 16 people are still reported missing after a massive blaze. The incident has plunged the area into grief, with the tragedy being compared by locals to a “Jatugriha” disaster due to its scale and intensity.
Reaching the spot around 1 p.m., nearly 10 hours after the fire broke out, Biswas inspected the burning factory and interacted with anxious family members of the missing workers. He gathered detailed information about those unaccounted for as relatives expressed anger and desperation, hoping for news of survivors amid continuing rescue efforts.
The fire has been raging for hours, with multiple fire engines deployed and operations hampered by dense smoke and extreme heat. As rescue work continues, the incident has triggered fresh concerns over industrial safety and sparked political reactions over ministerial absence, even as authorities say clarity will emerge only after the blaze is fully controlled.
