Filtered water supply from the Garden Reach Water Works will be temporarily stopped on January 31, 2026, due to pipeline interconnection, installation of higher-diameter valves, and other maintenance works. The disruption will begin after 9.30 am and affect supply from multiple booster pumping stations under the GRWW command zone.
As a result, several areas including south Kolkata, Garden Reach, Jadavpur, Tollygunge, Behala, Joka, Kasba, Maheshtala and Budge Budge will not receive filtered water during the noon and afternoon hours. Water supply will also remain unavailable in multiple boroughs, including Boroughs 8 to 16, fully or partially, during the affected period.
Authorities have stated that normal water supply is expected to resume from the morning of February 1, 2026. Residents in the affected areas have been advised to make necessary arrangements in advance as the temporary shutdown may cause inconvenience.
