A female student of Scottish Church College, Rishika Banik, died under mysterious circumstances after falling ill on January 24 in Chandannagar. Rishika, a resident of Tripura, was found unconscious in the hostel sickroom and was immediately taken to a medical college, where she was admitted to the ICU.
She later died during treatment. Police said suspicious substances were found in her stomach during the initial investigation. Samples from the body have been collected and sent for forensic examination, while officers have begun questioning hostel authorities and those who stayed with her to determine the circumstances leading to her death.
