A tragic road accident claimed the lives of two college students on Saturday morning on the Ambari-Hathimor state highway near Manuaganj in Jalpaiguri district. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Rajganj police station, leaving another young man seriously injured.
According to local accounts, three youths from Rajganj were riding on a single motorcycle from Ambari towards Hathimor when it collided with a large container truck in the Tunt Bagan area near Manuaganj. The impact was severe, killing two of the riders on the spot and critically injuring the third.
Residents alleged that the container had been stuck in the middle of the road since night while attempting to take a turn, blocking much of the highway. Dense morning fog is suspected to have reduced visibility, preventing the rider from noticing the stationary container in time.
