Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Trinamool Congress Minority Cell leader Lutfar Rahman was killed in a tragic road accident in Jalpaiguri district on Tuesday night when a speeding truck allegedly rammed into his motorcycle on National Highway 31. Rahman, who was returning home after picking up his daughter from tuition, died on the spot, while his daughter sustained critical injuries and was admitted to Jalpaiguri Medical College. The incident sparked heavy tension in the area, leading to protests and highway blockade.
According to available information, the accident took place near Goshala More when Rahman, president of the Minority Cell of Jalpaiguri Sadar Block No. 2, was crossing NH-31 with his daughter on a motorcycle. The impact of the collision was severe, throwing his daughter to the other side of the road, while Rahman was crushed under the truck. Eyewitnesses said the motorcycle got stuck beneath the vehicle and was dragged for several kilometers, eventually catching fire due to friction.
As news of the incident spread, family members and local residents staged strong protests. Demonstrators blocked the national highway near Engineering College More and surrounded police personnel, expressing anger over the accident. During the agitation, police vehicles were reportedly vandalized, further escalating tension in the area.
