A fire broke out early Wednesday morning in the primary section of Dumdum Girls' High School located in the Gora Bazar area, causing extensive damage to the school’s office building. The blaze completely destroyed the office before it could be brought under control.
The headmaster arrived at the school in the morning and noticed the fire. He immediately alerted the authorities, following which fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and worked to extinguish the flames. No injuries were reported in the incident. Officials confirmed that the office building of the primary section suffered the maximum damage. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and a detailed assessment of losses is underway. Fire officials ensured that the situation was fully contained before leaving the premises.
Meanwhile, Dumdum Police Station has launched an investigation into the incident. Media personnel were not allowed access to certain areas of the campus, as Higher Secondary examinations were being conducted in the high school section at the time.
