Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
A 23-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide in the Patrasayer police station area of Bankura district after an intimate video was reportedly circulated on social media following the breakdown of a romantic relationship. Police have launched a search for the accused boyfriend, who is currently absconding.
The woman’s body was recovered from her residence on Saturday night. Her family claimed that she took the extreme step due to humiliation and mental distress after the video was allegedly shared online. On Sunday, the body was sent to Bishnupur District Hospital for post-mortem examination, and the family demanded immediate arrest and strict punishment for the accused.
According to family members, the woman had come into contact with a young man through social media about three months ago. She had informed her family that she was in a relationship with a man from the Indus police station area, who had introduced himself as an army soldier. The relationship reportedly developed over time.
The family alleged that the accused used a fake identity and lured her to Bardhaman on the promise of marriage. During their stay at a hotel, he allegedly recorded intimate moments without her consent. Later, he is said to have blackmailed her with the video and demanded compliance. When she refused, the video was allegedly circulated on social media on Saturday evening.
Police officials stated that an investigation is underway and efforts are being made to trace and arrest the accused. Authorities have assured that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
