In a startling incident in New Friends Colony, Delhi, a domestic maid executed a meticulously planned fake ED raid at her employer’s residence, leaving authorities astonished. Delhi Police arrested the maid and her accomplices, seizing police uniforms, expensive household items, and weapons used during the heist. Investigators said the operation was modeled after the Bollywood film Special 26, showcasing the audacity and detailed planning involved.
Police revealed that the maid provided her team with detailed intelligence on the household, including the residents’ routines and valuables. At the scheduled time, the group, impersonating ED officers, carried out the “raid,” controlling mobile phones, internet, and other communication channels to prevent any alert. The residents were unaware that the so-called officials were impostors, allowing the team to operate unchallenged.
Delhi authorities noted that the operation mirrored a recent case in Gujarat, where a team of 12 posing as ED officers raided a jeweler’s home, seizing gold, silver, and cash worth crores. In that instance, a translator in the Revenue Intelligence Department acted as the chief mastermind, highlighting a disturbing trend of replicating cinematic-style heists in real life.
The Delhi Police have described the case as highly unusual, citing the degree of coordination and planning that went into replicating a film-inspired heist. The maid’s access to private information and ability to coordinate with her accomplices enabled the daring raid, prompting police to reassess security protocols for high-risk households.
Authorities are now investigating the full network involved in the operation, including tracing any links to the Gujarat case, and have warned residents to verify identities of officials claiming to conduct official raids. The incident has raised serious concerns about insider access and the potential for similarly audacious crimes in urban households.
