Amid cooking gas crisis, here's how to do your eKYC for cylinder delivery

The country is currently grappling with a severe fuel crisis, as international supply chain disruptions have led to an acute shortage of LPG (cooking gas). For many households, the uncertainty of when the next cylinder will arrive has turned daily life into a struggle, straining the patience of citizens across the region. In a bid to manage the dwindling supplies, the central government has introduced strict discipline for gas consumers.

New rules dictate that a refill can only be booked after a mandatory 25-day gap from the last delivery. Compounding the issue, delivery agencies are warning that even after a successful booking, the actual waiting period for a cylinder could stretch to 20 days or more. This massive gap has left families anxious about how to sustain their kitchens during the interim. Beyond the supply shortage, a "digital ultimatum" has been issued: mandatory eKYC. Failing to do so after the 25-day window is being viewed as a "death sentence" for their domestic gas connection.

Here's how to do eKYC:

  1. Go to the gas dealer's office and do biometric verification with Aadhaar and mobile number
  2. With Aadhaar OTP on the mobile app or website
  3. eKYC can also be done by going to the gas company's app
