The new services between Sealdah and Gede will begin from March 16, with railway authorities expecting thousands of passengers to benefit from the improved connectivity.
Under the new arrangement, the existing 31227 Sealdah–Barrackpore Local will be extended up to Gede and will operate as the 31931 Up Sealdah–Gede Special. The train will depart from Sealdah at 9:28 AM and reach Gede at 12:07 PM. Similarly, train number 31226 will run as the 31930 Down Gede–Sealdah Special, leaving Gede at 8:26 AM and arriving at Sealdah at 10:57 AM.
Another service, the 31431 Up Sealdah–Naihati Local, has also been extended up to Gede. It will operate as the 31933 Up Sealdah–Gede Special, departing Sealdah at 4:50 PM and reaching Gede at 7:38 PM. Additionally, a new direct service between Gede and Majerhat will be introduced through the 30144 Down Gede–Majerhat Special, which will leave Gede at 4:15 PM and arrive at Majerhat at 7:28 PM.
The railways will also introduce three special trains between Ranaghat and Gede, along with a revised departure time for the 31333 Up Sealdah–Kalyani Simanta Local, which will now leave Sealdah at 4:30 PM instead of 4:50 PM. Officials said the new services will initially run on a trial basis and future decisions will depend on passenger demand.
