Tensions reached a fever pitch in Kolkata on Friday night as several massive "Go Back Modi" hoardings surfaced near Maa Flyover, just hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled mega-rally at the Brigade Parade Ground. The billboards prominently feature demands for the release of pending central funds for West Bengal. These advertisements were also carrying the hashtag #BoycottBJP.
Beyond financial demands, the hoardings take a sharp cultural turn by accusing the Prime Minister and the BJP of "insulting" the historic icons of Bengal. The posters specifically mention legendary figures like Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Rabindranath Tagore, and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. It also labeled the opposition as "British Agents."
