No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) felicitated five Indian teams that recently won major ICC titles during the Naman Awards 2026 ceremony held in New Delhi on Sunday. The event celebrated India’s remarkable achievements across multiple levels of international cricket, recognising the players and support staff behind the country’s recent global triumphs.
Among the teams honoured were the senior men’s side that won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, as well as the senior women’s team that lifted the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. Both the men’s and women’s Under-19 teams that won their respective ICC U-19 World Cups were also recognised during the ceremony.
The recognition comes after a historic period for Indian cricket, highlighted by the men’s team defending the T20 World Cup title with a dominant victory over New Zealand in the 2026 final. The win marked India’s third T20 World Cup triumph and one of several major ICC titles secured by Indian teams across formats in recent years.
Apart from honouring the champion teams, the awards ceremony also celebrated individual achievements in international and domestic cricket. Leading players such as Shubman Gill and Smriti Mandhana were among those recognised for their outstanding performances, highlighting the depth of talent within Indian cricket.
