A brazen attempt to snatch a schoolgirl’s phone in broad daylight has been captured on CCTV in Rajarhat, triggering concern among local residents. The incident occurred around 4:10 PM on March 11 at Shikharpur crossing, where two youths on a motorcycle allegedly targeted the minor.
CCTV footage shows the two accused waiting in the area before the schoolgirl arrived and stood at the crossing with her smartphone. Seizing the moment, one of the youths attempted to snatch the device from her hand. In the scuffle, the phone fell, after which both youths quickly picked it up and fled the spot on their motorcycle.
The incident has created panic in the locality, raising concerns over safety in busy public areas during daytime. Following a complaint, police have initiated an investigation and are closely examining the CCTV footage to identify and trace the accused involved in the crime.
